Environmental Art

Humans have probably always been driven to create informal art in the landscape using the materials at hand – think of Stonehenge, or maybe what you created on a sandy or rocky beach one summer.

This assignment lets you act on that impulse, hopefully with good artistic results.

It starts with a little research into what others have done, then moves into a design and experimentation phase, and the creation of the final work.  All these stages will be well documented in your notebook and photographically.

Since environmental art tends to be ephemeral (look it up!), you’ll make a brief Powerpoint presentation to share your process and results with others who weren’t there to experience it.

Lots of snow in the forecast?  Go here.   Fall/Spring/Summer?  Go here!
