PhotoShop Page Assignment
Using the
instructions here, create a collage that
would fill exactly the top half of a left-hand colour page.
Requirements:
- Use images from at least 3
different photos that you find in 4 different folders in Shared/Pics.
- Find good, interesting images,
and try for at least one obscure one that no-one else will use.
- One of the photos must be taken
by YOU, outside class, this week, preferably outside. This is partly to encourage you to take
more photos – we need lots of good ones of different groups of
students. Borrow a camera if you
need it. Save these pics, as usual, in appropriate folders in General Use
Photos.
- One of the images must be a picture
of YOU added to another group of people to look as though they belong
there.
- Make sure your 3 images
overlap.
- Remove a substantial amount of
the background so that it's white or some other solid colour or gradient.
- Use only part of the photos,
not the whole thing e.g. one person or a group
- Select or erase very carefully,
so that you get clean, soft edges.
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS on Selection & Merging!
- Adjust levels as necessary
- Add an appropriate text title
in a large font. Use an appealing
effect under the Effects tab.
- In a size 9 font, list the
filenames & folder names of all photos you used. Indicate which one you shot by adding (mine)
- DO NOT mark the source files as
USED, even though you normally would for real pages.
- Create a new folder under Shared/Student Assts/Photoshop Page
Asst, using your full name.
- Save your half page as both a PSD and finally as a
Jpeg in your new folder. Use your
full name as the filename.
Evaluation Based On:
- Following the requirements
above carefully
- Overall appeal of the result
- Quality of photo taken by you
(technical & suitability as a Yearbook photo).
- Challenge – how difficult were
the selections your chose to make & merge?
- Quality of merges – clean soft
seamless edges; proportions look right; lighting consistent; no grey
shadows left.
