  • This course, of course, is the cherry on the cake, so to speak. It is a portfolio course in which you will create art works that explore a wide range of subject matter, and evaluate art works, providing grounds for your aesthetic judgements. We will examine historical and cultural contexts of Western art (including Canadian art) and art from various world cultures to support your study of specific media.

  • At last, we're on the level of ideas! This course will help you get out of your shell as an artist. You will explore a wide range of subject matter but focus on the human figure.  Your studio work will include various drawing activities, paintings, assemblage and sculptures. You will also deal with contemporary social justice issues, analyse art works, study western art history.

    We will emphasize theoretical and practical media applications. Your independent research and learning skills will be emphasized.

  • The central theme for the Grade 10 course is the student as an inquiring artist. The teacher, as a facilitator, directs students to question how they create and enhance their skills. As an inquiring artist, you will gain an understanding of the creative process.

  • This course allows guest users to enter  

    This course is organized into units that integrate the elements and principles of design, art history concepts, creative process and problem solving skills into studio based art activities. Learn about the tools and media of art, the language of art and art criticism. We will view artworks from historical periods  like the art of ancient civilizations, Prehistoric, Egyptian, Greece and Rome. These will be the inspiration for art projects and sketchbook assignments.
